5 weeks to Kansas if my math is correct. Extra Vegas WC slots are on the line. Are you ready? KS was a destination race last year and based on how many members are planning to race, it returns as a destination race this year. At least 10 tri club members are going, which means a pre-race dinner on Saturday night, June 9th, paid for by the club! Post-race snacks/food/drinks are also paid for by the club.
Anyone planning to carpool? If so, share your travel plans. Anyone still looking for lodging?
Pre-race dinner: Last year, we dined at Dempsey's Burger Pub. Great burgers! 2 years ago, Free State Brewery. You get to decide where to go this year.

Hey everyone, I'm down for KS this year. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Saturday and Sunday night. Thinking I may drive part way Friday - likely to Kansas City - so I can get there early Saturday. I can certainly take someone with me, but I only have space inside the car for my bike and I unfortunately don't have a bike accesory for my roof rack (it is a Subaru factory roof rack, it is Yakima compatible I think). If you'd like a ride, let me know. Never been to Lawrence area so I'll leave dinner decisions to others (dinner at Trizou was well chosen). KS veterans sound off. Starting to worry about bike course, everyone keeps telling me it is hilly. Ken

The course is a little hilly, but if you've been out with us on a recent Thursday night ride from Forest Park, you'll get an idea of what the course is like... x2! I'm all good for Dempsey's Burger Pub again Saturday night. Great outdoor patio seating and for those of us that don't mind a pre-race beer they have a nice selection. I will have the roof rack loaded already with bikes (MTB vacation to follow the race) but can fit another person sans bike for carpooling. I also was the chauffer for driving a few others around the course last year and would be willing to do it again at noonish on Saturday. Since I will not be returning home after the race, I would probably not be a good candidate to shuttle Tri Club goodies back to StL. Anyone with a truck, hatchback, RV, etc care to volunteer to bring the club "essentials"? -Bill

Week out and I checked the water temp at the army corp site - surface temp is 73 degrees (think I had the right lake). Pray for a cold spell to keep that temp down so we can wear wetsuits, some of us need all the help with swimming form we can get.
